Mesothelioma Lawyer - Mesothelioma Chrysotile Peritoneal

Did You Know?
Peritoneal Mesothelioma is responsible for many deaths each year. Although it is not the most common form of this cancer, many new cases come to light each year.

Chrysotile mesothelioma is a form of peritoneal mesothelioma. Chrysotile peritoneal mesothelioma is an asbestos-related cancer that attacks the lining of the abdominal cavity. It is a specific cancer of the abdomen and is caused by asbestos exposure.

Chrysotile causes peritoneal mesothelioma when the small fibers are inhaled or swallowed and become lodged in the tissue. Chrysotile linked peritoneal mesothelioma has a long latency period, often diagnosed more than 40 years after exposure.

When small chrysotile fibers are inhaled and become lodged in the lung, they can cause a mesothelioma that manifests itself in the peritoneum, particularly the lining that surrounds the stomach. The tumors that develop on the lining that surrounds the stomach limit the space available for the stomach to expand and move.

Symptoms of chrysotile peritoneal mesothelioma also include;

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Bowel blockage
  • Swelling of the abdomen

When a diagnosis of chrysotile peritoneal mesothelioma has been made, the patient is often already in very advanced stages of the disease, and most chrysotile peritoneal mesothelioma victims live less than a year after onset of the symptoms.
